Gold and silver prices fell in India on Tuesday as renewed gains in crude oil revived inflation concerns, interrupting Monday’s recovery and leaving buyers facing volatile rates ahead of the festive shopping period.

The November 3 gold silver rates showed gold futures at ₹1,38,979 per 10 grams, down 0.86%, while silver futures declined 2.09% to around ₹1,79,940 per kilogram, according to a Business Today report updated at 9:35 a.m. IST. The reversal followed strong gains in the previous session. Gold had recovered from a one-year international low, but concerns about borrowing costs continued to weigh on demand for precious metals.

November 3 Gold Silver Rates in Major Indian Cities

Morning indicative rates varied across cities, with differences reflecting local pricing and update times.

Delhi₹1,38,960₹1,27,380₹1,79,840
Mumbai₹1,39,160₹1,27,563₹1,80,290
Bengaluru₹1,39,270₹1,27,664₹1,80,440
Chennai₹1,40,670₹1,28,948₹1,84,140
Hyderabad₹1,40,670₹1,28,948₹1,84,140

These figures were published in Business Today’s November 3 morning update. They are indicative metal rates rather than final jewellery bills, which depend on the seller’s charges and applicable taxes. Buyers should compare quotations for the same purity and weight. A lower advertised rate does not necessarily produce a lower final bill if making charges or other costs differ.

Why Are Gold and Silver Prices Falling Today?

International spot gold fell 1% to $3,908.49 an ounce by 08:30 GMT, while silver dropped 3.2% to $49, Reuters reported.

Oil rebounded following reports of a US strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island. The rise renewed concerns about inflation and borrowing costs, with traders assigning a 75% probability to a Federal Reserve rate increase in December.

Higher interest rates increase the return available on interest-bearing assets, making bullion less attractive by comparison. Gold produces no income, so investors depend on price appreciation to generate a return.

Silver prices face that same pressure, alongside changes in industrial demand. Its larger percentage decline on Tuesday highlights the sharper swings buyers can encounter in the metal.

Gold Price Recovery Fades After Monday’s Rally

The decline came immediately after a strong domestic rebound. MCX December gold futures rose 1.3% on Monday to settle at ₹1,40,186 per 10 grams. December silver futures gained approximately 2.6% to ₹1,83,779 per kilogram, NDTV Profit reported.

Tuesday’s reversal shows that the recovery has yet to establish a stable direction. Lower prices can attract physical buyers, but that demand must compete with concerns about interest rates and further market selling.

For Indian buyers, the rupee adds another influence. A weaker currency makes dollar-priced bullion more expensive to import, potentially cushioning a decline in international prices. A stronger rupee can have the opposite effect.

Gold Demand Outlook Adds to Investor Caution

The World Gold Council cut its forecast for growth in gold investment this year to 200 tonnes from 400 tonnes, citing weaker appetite for bars and coins. Central-bank purchases offered a stronger counterweight, rising 42% to 321 tonnes in the third quarter, according to Reuters.

The figures point to different trends among buyers rather than a uniform retreat from gold. Institutional purchases can support longer-term demand even as households and smaller investors become more sensitive to price movements.

What Should Gold and Silver Buyers Watch Next?

US midterm election results and forthcoming economic data could shift expectations for interest rates and the dollar. Oil remains important because another sustained rise could reinforce inflation concerns.

For jewellery purchases, the practical comparison is the complete invoice: metal value, purity, making charges and taxes. Futures prices provide market direction, but they are not the price a customer will necessarily pay at a jewellery counter.

Will gold prices fall further in November?

Further declines are possible if interest-rate expectations rise or the dollar strengthens. A sustained recovery would need stronger buying demand or relief from those pressures.

Why is silver falling more than gold?

Silver responds to both investment flows and industrial demand, which can produce larger percentage moves.

What is the difference between 22K and 24K gold?

24K gold has higher purity. 22K contains additional metals that make it more durable for jewellery.
