Its interventions are primarily designed to halt panic-driven devaluation rather than fundamentally reversing the underlying trend. Mixed Outlook The critical catalysts to watch are UK first-quarter GDP data due Thursday, any fresh signals on the Iran ceasefire, and whether the Starmer leadership crisis escalates. Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, the underlying factors still seem to favor the pound.
