Particle Network Launches Bitcoin’s First Account Abstraction Protocol, BTC Connect

Particle Network, an innovation-driven Web3 project, has announced plans to launch BTC Connect, the first-ever Bitcoin Account Abstraction protocol. Particle Network has designed the EVM-compatible BTC Connect for developers within the Bitcoin and Ordinal ecosystems. The Network has not revealed the exact launch date for BTC Connect, only stating that it will be done in the coming months.

Particle Network is developing the Intent-Centric Access Layer.  Particle has Modular Smart Wallet-as-a-service tools, which enable access to self-custodial, decentralised application (dApp) embedded wallets accessible through users’ Web2 accounts. This is done by tapping into users’ MPC-TSS and social logins. It also enables them to leverage ERC-4337 account abstraction, which facilitates a smooth and flexible experience overall.

BTC Connect and its impact development in Bitcoin ecosystem

Particle Network, with 800+ projects and over 15 million active wallets, is on a mission to bring greater efficiency to developers working in the Bitcoin and Ordinal spaces. The launch of BTC Connect is a step forward in expanding access to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

With the use of an ERC-4337 design and L2 EVM-compatible chains, BTC Connect brings a number of new features, including a Smart Account, Paymaster, Bundler, and a customised Modal for Bitcoin. In the dynamic world of Ordinals and inscriptions, this protocol streamlines development by allowing developers to offer gasless transactions, account programmability, and other account abstraction capabilities to their consumers.

Innovation in the cryptocurrency industry has been on the rise recently, thanks to the influx of Bitcoin inscriptions and Ordinals. After achieving success in the Web3 space with its Modular Smart Wallet-as-a-Service stack—which improves the user and developer experience by integrating social logins, dApp wallets, and account abstraction—Particle Network is now expanding its influence to the Bitcoin environment.

As part of the announcement, Particle Network also revealed its BTC Connect partner network:

  • Unisat: Unisat is a Bitcoin NFT and Ordinal wallet that is open-source and browser extension based.
  • Bitmap: The Bitmap Metaverse is an on-chain inscription-based social and trade platform for Bitcoin.
  • BRC420: This is a protocol for Ordinals that integrates inscriptions with tokenization to make modules composable.
  • Map Protocol: The MAP Protocol is a layer-2 Bitcoin platform that enables interoperability across different blockchains.
  • BVM: The Bevm network is an EVM-compatible decentralised Bitcoin Layer-2 that uses BTC as gas.
  • B2 Network: a solution for Bitcoin’s Layer-2 that improves transaction speed and application diversification.
  • ZkFair: A zk-Rollup for the community built on top of Celestia DA and Polygon CDK.
